Directed by Ian Clark | Musical Director & Choreographer: Marilyn Webb
A big thank you to all of the cast, crew and audience that supported us, when the stage at Witcombe and Bentham Village Hall sparkled as The Curtain Callers presented their latest show - With a Smile and a Song - a joyous celebration of song, dance and community spirit.
Directed by Ian Clark and with musical direction and choreography by Marilyn Webb, the production delivered four magical performances: three evening shows and a Saturday matinee. Audiences were treated to an uplifting evening of entertainment that had them smiling, singing along, and tapping their toes from start to finish.
The carefully chosen programme wove together beloved musical numbers, classic songs, and some delightful surprises — all performed with heart and humour by the talented Curtain Callers cast. Whether it was a stirring solo, a harmonious ensemble, or a cheeky comic number, the show brought out the very best in this lively amateur dramatics group.
Director Ian Clark’s vision shone through with seamless staging and clever pacing that kept the show moving with energy and charm. Meanwhile, Marilyn Webb’s dual role as Musical Director and Choreographer added sparkle and cohesion — from the lively vocals to the polished movement, her influence was felt in every number.
With a Smile and a Song lived up to its name — a thoroughly feel-good evening that celebrated the power of music, dance, and community. A huge congratulations to all involved, on stage and behind the scenes, for another successful and memorable production. Special thanks to our audience that helped us raise £400 towards the cost of a new defibrillator for Witcombe & Bentham Village Hall.
The Curtain Callers will be back with their next show soon — watch this space!
