Please join us on 12th June, 7.30pm at Badgeworth Village Hall for a reading of our potential script for our November production at Witcombe. This is open to members and any potential members who may be interested in taking part. Joining in the reading is optional. This event will be hosted by Director, Janet Clark. There will be a small charge of £3 to go towards the cost of hall hire and refreshments are included in this.
Following the riotous success of Murdered to Death by Peter Gordon last year, Janet Clark is thrilled to propose its side-splitting sequel, Secondary Cause of Death, as our next production!
Set in 1939, with the world on the brink of war, we return to the delightfully doomed Bagshot House—now reinvented as a hotel for the “discerning guest” by none other than Colonel Charles Craddock. But don’t unpack your suitcase just yet… because trouble is checking in once again!
Our hopelessly inept hero, Inspector Pratt, is back—armed with baffling logic, butchered vocabulary, and a bulletproof confidence in his own incompetence. When he arrives bearing grim news, he unwittingly sparks a chaotic chain of events involving a mysterious Polish Count, a questionable Army Captain, a wildly flamboyant actor, and enough twists to make Agatha Christie dizzy. This is high-energy physical comedy, pratfalls, mistaken identities—it’s farce at its finest.
There is a strong cast, a brilliant mix of character types across nine roles—six female, three male.
Reviewers often say it outshines the original. Fans of Murdered to Death will flock to see what Pratt messes up next! This is a chance to build on last year’s triumph, give our audience another night of laughter and mystery, and offer the cast a rewarding challenge in fast-paced, character-driven comedy.
Let’s bring Bagshot House back to life—briefly—before the bodies start piling up again!
