Formerly known As Churchdown Players, The Curtain Callers are a friendly village-based group who have been staging plays first in Churchdown since 1958. We have since moved a short distance to the village of Witcombe, Gloucestershire and have changed our name to The Curtain Callers.
We meet most Thursday evenings at Witcombe & Bentham Village Hall to rehearse for two or three productions a year. At each production we have a retiring collection for a (usually local) charity as chosen by the director of the current production. We hold additional events including Christmas Fayres and themed Afternoon Teas to entertain the local community and raise funds to aid our own continuance. We also get together throughout the year for quiz evenings, skittles, karaoke and theatre visits.
Our current membership is around 30, most being on the acting side. We also have some specialists for set design, lighting, sound, continuity, front of house and many more. However, the reality is that most of us are involved at many different levels. So if you come to make the tea there's a good chance you might end up on the stage!
We really welcome new members - whatever you would like to do. To find out more or arrange a time to pay us a visit email us. You can also connect with us on Facebook and Instagram.
